The Ballarat Region sent a strong team of 42 athletes down to the famous Lakeside 10 road race with exciting performances in all grades. In the Juniors, it was Paige Tuddenham that stormed home for a 3rd place finish in the Female U14 3km event pushing herself to the limit on the course. Ballarat’s Amali Torney finished just behind with a 5th place finish in the Female U16 3km event.
In the 10km events, Ben Mornane had a great run in the Male U20 with a 5th place finish and Jacob Cheesman not far behind in 8th. Rhianna Watts returned to competition with a 3rd place finish in the Female U20 in a quick time.
In the open grades, Ben Stevens continued to push himself into the top echelon of Victorian athletes with a 9th place finish in 30:11 minutes over the 10km event. Then came Katherine Dowie who continued her incredible return season with a 5th place finish in the OPEN Women’s across the line in 33:48 minutes.
In the Masters grades, Ballarat Region continued to dominate with an incredible 5 placings across the 40+, 45+, 50+ & 55+ Female grades! Claire Johnson had a 2nd place finish in the 40+, Sarah Watts with a 2nd in the 45+, Bridget Wetherall a 1st and Michelle Hawkes 3rd in the 50+, and Alison Fidler a 1st in the 55+ Female
In the teams results, Ballarat’s U20 Male team again finished in 1st dominating the start to the season. The Female Premier Division had a solid 5th finish while the Div 4 Female came in 2nd. It was the Masters female who stole the show with a 1st place finish in the 40+ and another 1st place finish in the 50+m categories.
