BRAC Lake Relays 2024

The first of the winter season BRAC events saw relay teams descend upon Durham Point in Lake Wendouree for the Lake Relays. The seniors kicked off the day with Wendouree Athletics taking out the Men’s Division 1 with the team consisting of Jacob Cheesman, Hudson Downes, Cody Torney, Mitchell Korosec, Oscar Wooten & Joshua Hawkes finishing their 3km loops in 59.34 minutes. Eureka Athletics wasn’t far behind with Ballarat YCW and Harriers all finishing under 64 minutes.

In the Division 1 females, it was Eureka with a win, the team consisting of Gracie Downey, Lucy Jones, Amy Canavan and Katherine Dowie taking it home in 44.28 minutes. Ballarat YCW with a 2^nd place followed by Wendouree and Ballarat Harriers

In the other female grades, Ballarat YCW continued their strong form taking out the division 2, division 3, 40+, U16 & U14 categories capping off a big day. In the men grades, Ballarat Harriers took out division 2 while Ballarat YCW took home division 3 & 4 with an abundance or runners to pick from. Ballarat Harriers took out the 50+ Men and the U18 with fast times while Eureka took out U16 and Ballarat YCW U14 Grade

For the fastest times, Eureka’s Ben Stevens finished in a quick 9.00 minute 3km while Katherine Dowie finished in 9.52 minutes to continue her terrific season.
