BRAC Mental Health Awareness 3000m Run

The Ballarat Regional Athletic Centre (BRAC) hosted the annual Mental Health Awareness run on Thursday 10th February at Llanberris Athletics Reserve here in Ballarat with incredible turnout by participants and spectators alike. The event, which has become a treasured race on the BRAC calendar, this year saw 28 participants take part in the 3000m run with the event linking in with the current Athletics Victoria Shield League season.

The run, which was started in 2018 has been a staple part of the BRAC calendar and supports mental health with all proceeds received from the run going to straight to Headpace Ballarat, supporting young people in the region. With each runner contributing a gold coin donation, and BRAC inputting their own donation, the amount this year will be $200 straight to HeadSpace Ballarat.

With clear skies throughout the night, the race saw incredibly quick times by some of our talented Ballarat athletes. The run which was tightly contested throughout was won by Matthew Catterson (Wendouree Athletics Club) in a time of 8.50.84 minutes closely followed by Darcy Williams (Wendouree Athletics Club).

Thank you to all participants who joined the run and supported the worthy cause, we will back with the event next year!
