TEMPRORARY FACILITY CLOSURE DUE TO TRACK MAINTENANCE
After a period of negotiations, BRAC is pleased to announce that Llanberris Reserve will be getting some much needed repairs to the track. Thanks to the support of the City of Ballarat who have agreed to complete repairs to large sections of the track, the track should now see us through the next few years whilst we work towards the development of a new athletics facility to be built at the Showgrounds
Thankfully, these upgrades will now allow Llanberris Reserve to the Victorian Country Championships in January, which without such repairs was unlikely.
Due to Polytan’s limited availability to complete the works prior to January, the scheduled repairs will mean the track will be closed to the public, members and clubs from 7:00am Tuesday 17th October to Tuesday 7th November*
The work is expected to take anywhere from 10-12 business days, however bad weather can push this back, which is why we have allowed for 15 business days (If we get good weather, the track may re-open prior to November 7th)
Whilst these critical upgrades are a positive outcome of all users of our facility, BRAC acknowledges the timing is not ideal and will cause unfortunate disruptions to competition and training for many athletes. Despite the specific timing of the repairs being outside the control of BRAC, we are thankful that we will only lose one week of AVSL competitions as a result
We again acknowledge and this is short notice, and hope your understanding of the competing priorities that were considered in the best interests of all clubs and athletes
FREE ACCESS to LLANBERRIS
After reviewing the current access system over the previous six months, the BRAC board have made the decision to open the facility for FREE access – January 1st, 2024.
From this date, the turnstile will be unlocked with access cards no longer required
The gates will continue to be shut and larger group bookings will still need to pay for exclusive use but general training will be free access.
Members are encouraged to use the money they have on their cards once the track re-opens and all cards with more than $25 on the 1st January can apply for reimbursement by the centre.
AVSL ROUND 3
With the track closing for Round 3 of the AVSL season, all Ballarat members have been invited to compete at Bendigo for the day and enter into their events.
he schedule for Bendigo is very similar to Ballarat for this round with members able to enter on either an AVSL Package or Ballarat Package. Those with pay as you go options can enter and email ballaratregionalaths@gmail.com for more information once available.
Members are welcome to enter other metro and Geelong venues if they see fit but will be subject to standard AV event cost ($26 per round, if you do not have an AVSL package) and entry Requirements. As entries fill up fast in the locations, it is suggested you act early to ensure your entry.
