Victorian All Schools Championships – Weekend 2
The second weekend of the All-Schools championships saw athletes represent their local school and club at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne. Ballarat clubs were once again prevalent in the championships walking away with 12 medals.
A big thank you to all officials and volunteers that made the trip to Melbourne for the event, it was great to see all the athletes representing their schools

Throwing for Gold
The second weekend of the Victorian All Schools Championships at Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium saw Ballarat athletes excelling in the field events, securing 8 out of 12 medals for the weekend. Of those 12 total medals 5 of which were Gold.
- The Hammer Throw event witnessed a Benbow double. Alyssa Benbow showcased her strength in the Female U17 Hammer Throw, clinching the gold medal with a monumental throw of 49.58 meters. Leigh Benbow in the Male U14 asserted his dominance, securing the gold with an outstanding throw of 37.03 meters. These achievements not only added to their ever-growing medal tally but also solidified their reputation as the state’s prominent Hammer Throwers. Chantelle Leslie-Hughes was also on the podium with a silver medal in the Female U16 Hammer with a throw of 33.57 meters.
- Jace Murray continued to shine with his second medal across the event, taking out the gold in the Male U17 Javelin. His remarkable throw of 50.76 meters highlighted his exceptional skill. Chantelle Leslie-Hughes also took home another medal in the Female U16 Javelin Bronze medal with an impressive throw of 32.16 meters.
- Molly Fraser snatched the gold in the Female U18 Long Jump with an impressive jump of 5.36 meters. Mackayla Culvenor also took home the Female U16 silver medal in the jumping an astonishing 5.43m.
- Grace Crowe added to the gold medal tally, triumphing in the Female U16 200m. Her exceptional speed made her a standout performer in the sprints over the event.
- Summer Jenkins displayed her abilities in the Pole Vault clearing 2.45m taking out the Female U15 silver medal.
- The distance events also saw Ballarat’s strength, in the 3000m with Mitch Korosec securing the Male U15 silver medal and Rose Ashman who took home the Female U16 Bronze medal displaying their endurance and determination. Meanwhile, Rosie Hunt brought home the Female U18 bronze in a fast 800m.
