XCR R7 Lakeside Debrief

Ballarat region athletes made their way down to Lakeside on Sunday 7th August for the Lakeside:10 event with impressive results across the weekend. Congratulations to all involved on the day!

Ballarat region athletes headed down to Albert Park on Sunday 7th August for the annual Athletics Victoria XCR R7 Lakeside:10 around the Albert Park Lake. In the 3km road races. Lachlan Anderson competed in the Men U14 category while Lucy Jones powered home to finish 4th in the Women U16 in an impressive time of 10:39 minutes.

To the 10km section and Ballarat’s Kody Taggart sped home for 3rd in the Men U18 finished the 10km course in 35:40 minutes. In the Men U20 event, Hugh Ollerenshaw finished just outside the top 10 finishing in 37:25 minutes.

In the OPEN Men, Darcy Williams was the fastest in 31: 52 minutes while Matthew Catterson, Nic Van Raaphorst and Keith Scott all finished inside the top 100. Ballarat’s David Grigg was the 6th fastest M40+ on the course in a talented effort. In the OPEN Women, Karla Treweek managed a 17th place finish completing the 10km in 36:10 minutes while Alison Fidler was the 3rd W50+ over the line in 38:50 minutes.

In the team section, Men’s Premier division finished 8th while Men’s division 4 managed a 5th place finish. In the Women’s Premier Division, the Ballarat Region managed a 6th place finish with 5 athletes finishing inside the top 100. The 40+ Women also managed a 4th place finish with Alison Fidler, Michelle Hawkes and Sarah Watts finishing strong.

In the Juniors, the teams battled away but failed to make top 5 finish in any age category
