XCR Round 2 – Hanging Rock

Ballarat Region sent a strong team of athletes down to Hanging Rock on Saturday for R2 of the XCR season. Ballarat had 20 athletes take on the challenging but fun course at Hanging Rock with many giving the new course a tick of approval.

Ballarat Region sent a strong team of athletes down to Hanging Rock on Saturday for R2 of the XCR season. Ballarat had 20 athletes take on the challenging but fun course at Hanging Rock with many giving the new course a tick of approval.

In the Juniors it was the U20 Men team consisting of Ben Mornane, Jacob Cheesman and Kody Taggart who stormed into 2nd place as a team with Ben and Jacob finishing inside the top 6 athlete on the day. Luke Irvin and Archer Spackman battled in the U16 & U14 Men respectively as the only members from Ballarat Region with top 20 finishes

In the seniors it was the masters athletes showing everyone how it is done with the Women 50+ team consisting of Bridget Wetherall, Michell Hawkes & Alison Fidler finishing in 1st place across the state! Wetherall stormed home for 2nd while Hawkes and Fidler finished inside the top 7. The same team ended up with a 3rd place team finish in the Women’s 40+

In the Premier Male division Ballarat Region finished 8th with Ben Stevens starting the season with a huge run to finish 6th overall, the best finish by a male in an AV competition for many years. The OPEN Women finished 6th as a team with a few of the women stepping up from 40 & 50+ categories
