AVSL Round 10

AVSL Round Ten

AVSL Round Ten was a scorcher, but this didn’t stop many great performances as always. The big show was Yual Reath who had the crowd watching as he cleared a new PB and BRAC record of 2.26m, and his reaction to clearing it said it all, as he celebrated with his coach and training squad.

Many other athletes had a great day out on the track and field, starting with the Throwers with many athletes coming very close to breaking BRAC records. The track was no different with numerous fast races although hand timed, I didn’t stop the likes of Cooper Sherman and Nyajima Jock who both put together blistering times.

A big congratulations to Kiana Jenkins who was the highest point scorer in the Ballarat region and 8th across the state with a total of 1,437 points. Kiana’s highest scoring event was her Long Jump, with a jump of 4.58m giving her a massive 448 points.

A great effort from the clubs over the weekend, starting with the Premier division, Wendouree again with a huge points haul of 28,850 which put them in 8th place. In Division 2, Eureka also scored very well with a total of 17,725 landing them in 6th place. Ballarat Harriers scored well with 17,176 points and placed 7th. Finally, Division 4 where YCW again placed 2nd with a big score of 14,497 points, this putting them in a good position to eye off a promotion to division 3.

A reminder that AVSL Round 11 is on this Thursday the 8th of February, so be sure to enter before 8pm on Tuesday the 6th of February. Also a reminder that we need club helpers across our events to ensure we can stick to our schedule and ensure our events run smoothly.

As always a big thanks to our officials who were out battling the heat, to help our sport continue to run smoothly across all events.
