AVSL Round Nine

AVSL Round Nine was a round for great performances and broken records to back that up. Starting with the Heat 1 of the men’s 400m putting on a show. We saw Cooper Sherman take out the Open and U20 men’s BRAC record with a time of 46.8s, which is also the fastest Australian 400m time in 2024 so far. This same race saw Hudson Downes break the U17 men’s 400m record with a time of 48.97s. But the records do not stop there, with Mackayla Culvenor breaking her own U16 women’s triple jump record with a jump of 11.80m, lastly, we saw Kelly Ruddick walk her way into another record for the 50+ women’s 3000m walk in a time of 14:11.55m.

A round of applause for Mackenzie Estlick who was the highest point scorer in the Ballarat region and 4th in the state with a total of 1,505 points. Mackenzie’s highest scoring event was her 100m, with a speedy victory of 12.31s gaining her a massive 514 points.

A great effort from the clubs over the weekend, starting with the Premier division, Wendouree used their power play and amassed a huge 28,850 points which landed them in 4th place. In Division 2, Ballarat Harriers scored well with 16,189 points and placed 6th. Eureka scored well across the day with a total of 10,400 landing them in 9th place. Finally, Division 4 where YCW again done very well to place 2nd in the division with a score of 8,022 points.

A reminder that Victorian Countries is on this weekend, kicking the big weekend off on Friday the 26th through to Sunday the 28th, so come down to support your club and friends and give a helping hand where you can.
