David Stevens Junior Athlete of the Year Awards
Congratulations to Lachlan O’Keefe who has been awarded the inaugural David Stevens Junior Athlete of the Year awards at the Sportsmen’s Association of Australia – Ballarat Branch last night
The award has been created by the Sportsmen’s Association to present the Ballarat junior athlete who has completed excellent results at local, state, national & international competitions plus met the allocated criteria.
The award is named after David Stevens, a life member of the Ballarat Regional Athletic Centre and a founding member of the Sportsmen’s Association Ballarat Branch
David has a long history with athletics in Ballarat, working alongside other life members to first establish Llanberris Reserve as a training facility.
The centre acknowledges the award represents David longstanding commitment to athletics in the region and celebrates the achievement of our junior athletes.
The award will be yearly occurrence through the Sportsmen’s Association returning in 2024.
We were also joined by Gerrard Keating who was the guest speaker on the night, discussing his journey from a junior Ballarat athlete to making 2 back -to-back Commonwealth Games 100m finals! Thank you to Gerrard for sharing his journey, we are glad to have him back coaching in Ballarat
