Round 6 of the Athletics Victoria XCR season was tied with the Schools XC Champs and run in Bundoora! Junior members competed for their schools across the day with Loreto Ballarat and Ballarat Grammar having several participants from Ballarat athletics Clubs in the teams competitions. Individual Ballarat athletes also competed for their schools around the district outside of the teams competition.
In the senior competition, Poppy Austin run the 6km course in 22:48 minutes to finished 4th in the Women’s U20 competition in an impressive start to the day. The Ballarat Region Men’s U20 had a great day with 6 athletes finishing inside the top 22 places! Ben Ludbrook completed the 8km course in 7th place finishing in 26:27 minutes while Isaac Rossato finished 10th in 27:25 minutes. Other athletes inside the top 22 included Samuel Pearse, Fraser Saunder, Hugh Ollerenshaw and Samuel Blood.
In the OPEN Women’s competition, Karla Treweek continued her positive season with a 15th place finish on the 10km course finishing in 39:31 minutes. Angela Williams was the 4th F40 over the line in 40:57 minutes while Alison Fidler was the 3rd F50 in 43:14 minutes. In the OPEN Men’s competitions, Matthew Catterson was the first Ballarat athlete over the line finishing the 10km course in 32:51 minutes.
