BRAC Wal Brown 2022
Over 70 participants made their way to the Pax Hill Scout Camp on Saturday to compete at the annual Wal Brown event run by the Ballarat Regional Athletic Centre. The 4km course in Canadian was well marked as participants either completed 8km, 4km or 2km races throughout the day.
In the senior 8km race, Ballarat YCW athlete Nic Van Raaphorst finished 1st in a time of 29:42 minutes closely followed by Benjamin Stevens and James Miller. The first female over the line was Ballarat Harriers Claire Johnson who came home in 34:23 minutes. Johnson was followed by Sarah Watts and Bridget Wetherall on the 8km course. The fastest U20 Male was Fraser Saunder while fastest U20 Female was Jacqueline McBratney-Owen
In the 4km events, Wendouree athlete Archie Caldow stormed home to finish 1st in 14:34 minutes closely followed by Jacob Cheeseman while Mitchell Korosec pushed for 3rd spot on 15 minutes. The fastest Female was Rose Ashman who finished in 17:05 minutes with Erin Childs and Olivia Hickingbotham close behind. In the Junior 2km race, Paige Tuddenham finished 1st for Ballarat YCW
In the team results, Ballarat YCW Harriers had an impressive day winning all female categories and taking home the A Grade and 40+ Men in an impressive display. Wendouree Athletics Club enjoyed success in the 50+ Men and U18 Men while Eureka Athletics won the U14 Men category.
